Animal Shelter Fundraiser Taking Place In Hamden

The fundraiser features a golf tournament, a live performance from Savile Row at Aunt Chilada's and more. Read details here.

HAMDEN, CT — An Animal Shelter Fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 with organizers hoping to bring attention to the town’s existing Animal Control Gift Fund, which they say has been sitting dormant (with more than $400,000) over the past several years.

The day will begin at 8 a.m. with a golf tournament at the Sleeping Giant Golf Course. The tournament will feature a $20,000 (50/50 split) Hole-in-One Contest on the 3rd hole. If a hole-in-one occurs on hole #3, the player gets $10,000 and $10,000 (as well as the tournament proceeds) go to Hamden's Animal Control Gift Fund.

The tournament will also feature these additional Hole-In-One prizes; a $500 Visa Gift Card on Hole #8, a 50-inch HD Smart TV on Hole #7, and Callaway 'X Series' 416 Irons on Hole #1. The tournament is a 9-hole, shotgun format, open to amateurs only.

The fundraising continues next door at Aunt Chilada's Restaurant during lunch and dinner. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of everyone's pre-taxed bill who first makes a reservation and then presents the event flier with their payment. Patrons may sit in the bar/lounge, main restaurant or outside deck. The offer also includes take-out.

The day will end with a live performance by Hamden's own Savile Row. The band will be upstairs in Aunt Chilada's Cantina starting at 6 p.m. (No cover charge.) If you plan on eating in the Cantina, reservations are still required, but Aunt Chilada's has generously agreed to donate 20 percent of the entire pre-taxed upstairs Cantina register to the Animal Control Gift Fund - no flier is needed. Full details and event fliers may also be found at AbandonedAnimals.org

If you are not able to attend and would like to make a donation, checks should be made out to Hamden's Animal Control Gift Fund and mailed to:
