Back To School: Hamden 2026-27 School Calendar

HAMDEN, CT — Summer is starting to wind down as the first day of school in Hamden is quickly approaching.

Students will return to the classroom in Hamden Public Schools on Monday, Aug. 31.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change.

Here’s a list of dates to know for this school year, according to the 2026-2027 district calendar:

• First day: Aug. 31
• Labor Day, no school: Sept. 7
• Yom Kippur, no school: Sept. 21
• Indigenous Peoples’ Day, no school: Oct. 12
• Election Day / Staff Professional Development, no school for students: Nov. 2-3
• Thanksgiving Recess, no school: Nov. 25-27
• Holiday, no school: Dec. 24 – Jan. 1
• Three Kings Day, no school: Jan. 6
• Martin Luther King Day, no school: Jan. 18
• Winter Recess / Presidents’ Day, no school: Feb. 12-15
• Eid al-Fitr, no school: March 10
• Good Friday, no school: March 26
• Spring Recess, no school: April 12-16
• Memorial Day, no school: May 31
• Projected Last Student Day: June 15
• Juneteenth: June 19
