Bear Spotted On Quinnipiac University Property In Hamden
The bear was seen on the property on Thursday afternoon.
HAMDEN, CT — A black bear was spotted on Quinnipiac University property on Thursday afternoon, according to officials.
The black bear was seen on university property on Kimberly Avenue, near the York Hill and Mount Carmel campuses, around 4 p.m., according to an email from Quinnipiac spokesperson John W. Morgan.
Morgan said public safety personnel responded to the scene. He advised students to not approach the bear if they see it, and to call the Public Safety Department instead.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection offers the following tips if you see a bear:
- Observe it from a distance.
- Advertise your presence by shouting and waving your arms or walk slowly away.
- Never attempt to feed or attract bears.
- Report bear sightings to the Wildlife Division (or call 860-424-3011).
