Bullet Enters Home, Nearly Strikes Young Child: Hamden Police

Police said several shots were fired and two bullets struck a home with one entering the second floor and nearly striking a young child.

HAMDEN, CT — A bullet entered a home and nearly struck a young child Monday night in Hamden, according to police.

Hamden police were contacted by New Haven police around 10 p.m. Aug. 3 regarding shots fired in the area of Goodrich Street and Edwards Street. “Shot Spotter” indicated that 12 gunshots were fired, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Police found numerous shell casings on Edwards Street and two bullets struck a Goodrich Street home, according to Smith.

Smith said one of the bullets entered the second floor and nearly struck a young child. According to an investigator, the bullet missed the child “by approximately 2 feet.” Another bullet struck an unoccupied parked vehicle on Edwards Street, according to Smith.
