Burglar Breaks Into Home, Steals Car While Residents Sleep

Hamden police are investigating the overnight burglary.

Hamden police are investigating an overnight burglary in which the homeowners’ wallet and keys, and eventually their car, were stolen while they were sleeping.

The burglary occurred at a Rolfe Road residence on Tuesday and investigation revealed that the suspect forcibly entered the home through the kitchen window, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

Once inside, the homeowner’s wallet and keys to their motor vehicle were stolen. The individual then stole their 2014 Volkswagon Passat, Connecticut registration 3AFKVO, according to Smith.

Further investigation revealed that the burglary occurred between 1:30 a.m. and 7 a.m., while the residents were asleep in a second floor bedroom.
