Business Woman Of The Year Honored By Hamden Regional Chamber

HAMDEN, CT — (From Quinnipiac University): Karla Natale, of Cheshire, associate vice president for university events and community partnerships at Quinnipiac University, was recently recognized with the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Award.

President of Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce Nancy Dudchik honored Natale at the Women in Business Holiday Networking Award Luncheon.

“There are so many silent leaders that work tirelessly behind the scenes that deserve a spotlight,” Dudchik said. “This award shines a light on those who really deserve the praise and that’s why we’re celebrating Karla Natale.”

Natale has not only been the main point of contact between the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce and Quinnipiac, but she put extensive effort into her involvement within the community.

Natale was recognized for her efforts on community councils and volunteer hours.

“She is a born leader,” Dudchik said. “She believes so much in community partnerships and collaborations.”

During her work of over 23 years, Natale has left her footprint on the community and was especially recognized for founding the program Bobcat Stride.

Bobcat Stride is a community initiative that welcomes local senior citizens to Quinnipiac’s North Haven Campus to exercise. Bobcat Stride was incredibly popular among the community as it allowed citizens to practice healthy habits and create new friendships in a safe environment.

“She is a true community cheerleader,” Dudchik said. “She always works with the community in mind and actively looks for ways to include and promote our local businesses.”

Natale expressed her gratitude.

“It feels amazing,” Natale said. “As someone who works behind the scenes, I don’t expect or seek recognition, so I was beyond surprised and overwhelmed to receive the call.”

Natale reflected on what it means to be a woman in business.

“Looking back at my years as a student at Quinnipiac, it was my goal to hold a career that would have a positive impact,” Natale said. “It means a lot to me to be an example for others, particularly young women, who are looking to start their careers.”

Natale emphasized that she hoped to continue to build the community through programs and events in order to shine a light on all that Quinnipiac has to offer.

Natale credits her success to Vice President Bethany Zemba and President Judy Olian for providing her with opportunities and giving her confidence throughout their time at Quinnipiac.

“Receiving this award is truly an honor,” Natale said. “I would not be where I am today and able to receive this award if it weren’t for those who gave me a chance and empowered me throughout my career.”
