The Hamden Art League will host professional artist and popular instructor Shauna Shane for a free, live presentation titled “Painting Successful Landscapes in Oil”. The free educational event is open to the public and will take place in the Social Hall at Hamden Senior Citizens Services, located inside the Miller Memorial Library Complex at 2901 Dixwell Ave, Hamden, CT 06518.
During this unique demonstration, Shane will pull back the curtain on the creative process, explaining how to reduce complicated natural scenery into a simple, effective composition. Attendees will learn techniques for blocking in a canvas for the highest chance of success, alongside live discussions on planning artistic design, mastering light and shadow, and identifying negative shapes. Shane will also guide the audience through her real-time decision-making process, including how she handles unavoidable corrections on a developing canvas.
