Candidates Sought For Vacancy On Hamden Legislative Council
The Hamden Republican Town Committee is looking for candidates to be nominated for a vacancy on the Legislative Council.
HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Republican Town Committee is looking for candidates to be nominated for a vacancy on the Legislative Council.
The vacancy is in the 9th District, encompassing West Woods, following the retirement of longtime Councilwoman, and Minority Leader, Marjorie Bonadies.
Bonadies, who has held the seat since she was first elected in 2013, announced during budget deliberations in May that she planned to resign from the council.

“We are sad to see Marjorie retire from her post as Minority Leader, but after almost a decade of dedicated service to our town, her exodus has been well-earned,” Hamden RTC Chairman Andrew Tammaro said. “Her role as a stalwart against recurring tax increases and gross financial mismanagement has been invaluable to the Legislative Council and we will miss her ferocity in defending principles of transparent and responsible local governance.
“As minority representation in Hamden dwindles, we are searching for candidates with the drive to serve our town and its residents faithfully and with great intent on the Council.”

Interested candidates are asked to contact Tammaro at atammaro1853@gmail.com and attend the upcoming Republican Town Committee meeting on Thursday, July 7.
Per statute, candidates will be nominated by 9th District members of the Hamden Republican Town Committee and voted on for confirmation by the Legislative Council.
