Car Burglars Caught In Hamden: Police

The suspects were caught burglarizing vehicles during the overnight hours, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — Two people were caught burglarizing vehicles during the overnight hours in Hamden on Thursday, according to police. At about 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 24, Hamden Police responded to Dawes Avenue on the report of two individuals forcibly entering parked motor vehicles, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said shortly thereafter, Officer Robert Villano detained two individuals who were walking on Clifford Street. Further investigation revealed that they were responsible for forcibly entering three vehicles, according to Smith.

A stolen cellphone and money was recovered.

Malik Daniels, 19, of New Haven

Hamden Police arrested Malik Daniels, 19, of Cave Street in New Haven, was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary and fifth-degree larceny. Daniels, who was held on a $1,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 7.

Police also arrested a 16-year-old New Haven resident. He was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary and fifth-degree larceny. He is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven.

Officer Kelley Groleau and her K-9 partner “Sar” assisted in the investigation.
