Missing 2-Year-Old Girl & Father Found Safe: Hamden Police (Updated)

A 2-year-old girl and her father were last seen Sunday in Hamden, according to police.

UPDATE: Jaheem and Melody Bookert have been found and are safe, police said in an update around 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

(Original post) HAMDEN, CT — Police are searching for a 2-year-old girl who was last seen with her father on Sunday in Hamden.

Police responded to the area of Ridge Road around 6 p.m. on the report of a missing child, according to Detective Sean J. Dolan.

Dolan said the preliminary investigation found that family members were concerned about the whereabouts of Melody Bookert, 2, as well as her father, 20-year-old Jaheem Bookert. Melody was last seen with her father in the area of Ridge Road on Sept. 4.

Jaheem Bookert has no permanent address or cellphone and is often with Melody for extended periods of time, according to Dolan.

Dolan said family members have not been in able to get in contact with Jaheem and Melody Bookert since Sunday. They became concerned after several days passed without any contact, according to Dolan.

Jaheem Bookert is described as approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall with an average build, with black hair and brown eyes.

Melody Bookert has dark hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing pink Christmas-themed pajamas.
