'Click It Or Ticket' Campaign Underway In Hamden

Police are cracking down on seat-belt violations with a high-visibility enforcement campaign in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — The Click it or Ticket high-visibility seat belt enforcement campaign is underway in Hamden and across Connecticut, according to police.

Police said the campaign will continue through May 31.

The campaign is a collaborative effort involving, Connecticut Department of Transportation, Connecticut State Police, and local law enforcement agencies, including the Hamden Police Department.

“During the campaign period, Hamden police officers will increase patrols and enforcement efforts focused on seat belt compliance,” police wrote in a news release. “Drivers and passengers who fail to wear seat belts may be subject to citations.

“Connecticut law requires all drivers and passengers, including those seated in the back seat, to wear seat belts. Violations carry a minimum fine $92 for a first offense.

“Officials say the goal of the campaign is to encourage safe driving habits and reduce preventable injuries and fatalities on Connecticut roadways.”
