Community Car Show & Marketplace Event Announced In Hamden

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce has announced its first Cars & Commerce Community Car Show & Marketplace event.

The event, which is presented by the Sponsors of Energize Connecticutsm, Avangrid Networks, Inc. subsidiaries United Illuminating and Southern Connecticut Gas, will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Hamden Town Center Park.

“The new community event will bring together car enthusiasts, local businesses, families and residents for a day celebrating classic and specialty vehicles, local businesses and community connections,” according to a news release. “Cars & Commerce will feature show cars of all years, makes and models, along with trophies and awards, raffles, food trucks and local business vendors. Admission is free for spectators.”

Show car registration begins at 8 a.m. and is $15 per car. Participating vehicles will also have the opportunity to compete for recognition.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses and organizations interested in showcasing and/or selling their products and services at this new community event, according to organizers.

“Cars & Commerce is about more than the cars, it's about bringing our community together,” Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce President Nancy Dudchik said. “We're creating a new event where car enthusiasts, businesses, families and neighbors can spend the day together while discovering and supporting the businesses that help make our Town special.

“The Car Show committee, led by Bob Onofrio, had played an instrumental role in bringing back this iconic event to Hamden. We appreciate his efforts and his team of volunteers.”

A portion of the proceeds from Cars & Commerce will benefit the Hamden Police Activity League (Hamden PAL), furthering the event's commitment to supporting the local community.

The event will be held at Hamden Town Center Park, with entrance through Hamden Middle School, 2623 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden. The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 20.
