Sept. 2, 2021
Connex Credit Union recently donated more than $800 to the Hamden Fathers Football and Cheerleading Association (HFFCA). These funds were raised at Connex’s Hamden branch as part of the credit union’s Coins-for-Change initiative which encourages members of the local community to use Connex’s coin-cashing machines to convert their spare change into cash. A small fee is collected for these services and then donated to various charitable organizations.

Hamden Fathers Football and Cheerleading Association is an all-volunteer charter that organizes and administers the Hamden Hurricanes football and cheerleading association. HFFCA believes that every child deserves the opportunity to participate in sports regardless of socio-economic challenges. Funds will be toward offsetting programming costs and offering hardship scholarships.
“The Hamden Hurricanes would like to thank Connex for their generosity,” said Calvin McGee, president, Hamden Fathers Football and Cheerleading Association. “This donation will greatly help us in our mission to provide opportunities to the youth of Hamden and neighboring towns through athletics like football and cheerleading.”
