The arrest follows a joint investigation by Hamden and New Haven police relating to local gang activity.

Hamden Police have charged a 22-year-old man with illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and drug charges following a joint investigation with New Haven police into local gang activity.

The Hamden Police Department Street Interdiction Team, along with the New Haven Police Department Shooting Task Force, began an investigation relating to local gang activity in September of 2015, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said the investigation led to the identification of Curtis Cobb, who had been involved in the illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
