Coronavirus Hamden: 3 Residents Test Positive

In an update, officials say there are three confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in Hamden.

HAMDEN, CT — Three Hamden residents have tested positive for the new coronavirus, officials confirmed in an update Tuesday night. The town’s first confirmed case was announced on Monday. Mayor Curt Balzano Leng said Monday that while that was the town’s first confirmed case, officials have functioning under the presumption that was in Hamden for weeks and there are many more cases.

The three confirmed cases equate to possibly 300 to 600 untested cases, according to a post on the town’s Facebook page.

“The Greater New Haven area is now the second largest area of Connecticut with 89 positive cases,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “Using the expert’s math, that means a possibility of 20,000, untested cases in our area. The Governor and the Mayor are both imploring people to absolutely stay home and use common sense.
