Crowd-Pleasing ‘Viva Brazil’ Set For Saturday In Hamden
The show features Afro-Brazilian dances that fuse rhythmic music with high-energy gymnastics and martial arts.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Arts Commission presents the last show in its 2016-2017 Saturday Afternoon Family Entertainment Series. On Saturday, April 8, the professional ensemble, Ginga Brasileira, will perform “Viva Brazil”, a colorful crowd-pleasing repertoire of Afro-Brazilian dances that fuse rhythmic music with high-energy gymnastics and martial arts.
Dances include Capoeira, a Brazilian martial art dance; Maculele, a stick dance created by African slaves working on Brazilian sugarcane plantations; and Samba, Brazil's national dance.
All Saturday programs are held in the handicapped accessible Thornton Wilder Hall in the Miller Cultural Complex, 2901 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden.
