Custodian Assaulted, Robbed By Man At School In Hamden: Police

The custodian was hospitalized after being assaulted by a man who was inside the building when he arrived for work early Tuesday morning: PD

HAMDEN, CT — A custodian was assaulted and robbed by a man inside Wintergreen Magnet School early Tuesday morning in Hamden, according to police.

Police responded around 5:55 a.m. to the school at 670 Wintergreen Avenue on the report of an assault, according to Sgt. Angela Vey.

Vey said an investigation found that when the custodian arrived for work, he found an unknown man inside. The custodian asked the man to leave, and the suspect then assaulted him, according to Vey.

The suspect stole the victim’s wallet and keys, and ultimately his vehicle, according to Vey.

The victim was taken to the hospital with facial injuries, Vey said.

Detectives from the Hamden Police Department Major Crimes Unit are actively investigating the incident, according to Vey.
