DEEP To Hold Forestry Walk At Naugatuck State Forest

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP)’s Forestry Division and the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station are sponsoring a forestry walk at Naugatuck State Forest in Hamden on Sunday, October 3 at 1 p.m.

Foresters Jerry Milne and Jeff Ward will discuss how past forestry activities have created diverse wildlife habitat and made the forest more resilient to damage from insects, diseases, and climate change.
The walk will last about 1-1/2 hours. The group will meet at the end of Downes Road, 0.5 miles north of the intersection of Gaylord Mountain Road in Hamden.

In the event of rain, the walk will be canceled. Pre-registration is requested by emailing Jerry Milne at gerard.milne@ct.gov before 3 p.m. on Oct. 1.
