Dog Hit By Car, Reunited With Family After Search: Hamden Police
A dog that went missing after being hit by a car has been reunited with his family, thanks to the efforts of several good Samaritans.
HAMDEN, CT — A dog that went missing after being hit by a car has been reunited with his family, thanks to the efforts of several good Samaritans in the Thompson Street area, according to police.
“Kobe,” an 8-month-old English Bulldog, was hit by a vehicle in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Thompson Street around 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 21, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Kobe broke free from his harness before he was struck, according to Smith.
Kobe, who was injured in the area of his stomach, then ran off, according to Smith.

More than 30 neighborhood residents, along with the Hamden Animal Control, feverishly searched for him for several hours, Smith said.
Several hours later, another good Samaritan found Kobe on Four Rod Road and took him to a local animal hospital, according to Smith.

“We are happy to report that Kobe has been reunited with his family,” Smith said. “Without the assistance of our caring residents, the outcome might have been different. We at the Hamden Police Department/Animal Control Division cannot thank you enough.”
