‘A Downton Abbey Experience’ Fundraiser To Take Place In Hamden

The Hamden Arts Commission will present A Downton Abbey Experience: A Christmas Engagement Gala, which includes interactive entertainment.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Arts Commission will present a fundraising event — A Downton Abbey Experience: A Christmas Engagement Gala — on Friday, Nov. 30. The fundraiser will take place from 6:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Society, located at 700 Hartford Turnpike in Hamden.

Tickets are $50 and include a pre-show gathering time with light refreshments followed by heavy hor d’oeuvres, a glass of wine, interactive entertainment from History at Play, coffee, tea and desserts. There will also be a raffle at the end of the evening so bring some extra cash to snap up some great prizes. Hamden’s own Wine 101 will be providing the wine for the evening. At 7:30 p.m. the entertainment begins! It is 1920. The Great War has ended. You’ve been invited to an engagement celebration for the Crawley Family of Downton Abbey. The young lovers, Matthew and Lady Mary, have been courting one another for years and the rest of the estate has very particular opinions of the relationship unfolding. Their blooming romance will affect the inheritance of the Estate and has the residents and staff up in arms. The lovers have very different ideas of how finances should be run and neither is backing off from the dispute. The family has come together to celebrate, but an air of concern permeates the air.

The Hamden Arts Commission is a focal point in the community for activities in the arts, presenting close to 40 programs annually, and also enthusiastically support the individuals and organizations that work to enhance the arts in our town. The Arts Commission has been collaborating with the Town since 1981and is composed of 15 volunteer commissioners.
