Driver Charged With Sexually Assaulting College Student: Police
Police say the incident occurred while the student and some friends were getting a ride back to Hamden after leaving a bar in New Haven.

HAMDEN, CT — A West Haven man is accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old college student in Hamden, according to police. Hamden Police met with the victim on Oct. 21 regarding a sexual assault, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
The victim told police that she left a New Haven bar with two friends at about 10:30p.m. They subsequently entered a motor vehicle that was operated by Elsadiq Eltigani, according to Smith.
Smith said while being transported to Hamden, Eltigani continuously “touched the victim in an inappropriate manner.” The victim attempted to escape, but Eltigani prevented it, according to Smith.

Detective Joseph Liguori conducted an extensive investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Eltigani.
Eltigani was arrested Nov. 17 on a warrant as he exited his West Haven home, Smith said.

Eltigani, 52, of Third Avenue, was charged with third-degree sexual assault and first-degree unlawful restraint. He was detained at police headquarters on a $100,000 court-ordered bond. He is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Nov. 30.
