DUI Checkpoint Results Announced In Hamden

Police announce the results of a DUI checkpoint that was held in Hamden over Labor Day weekend.

HAMDEN, CT — Three people were arrested and police handed out more than 50 infractions during a DUI checkpoint that was held in Hamden on Sept. 1. The checkpoint took place in the area of Whitney Avenue and the Route 40 connector, according to police.

“The purpose of this endeavor was to educate the motoring public on the dangers of drunk driving,” Capt. Ronald Smith wrote in a news release. “Officers interacted with several hundred motorists throughout the evening and early morning hours. In addition, officers distributed literature pertaining to driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.”
