Earlier Start Times Approved For Hamden Public Schools

Hamden Public Schools will have an earlier start time next year due to a shortage of bus drivers and rising costs, according to a report.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden Public Schools will have a 10-minute earlier start time beginning in the 2023-24 school year following a vote of the Board of Education this week, according to WTNH News 8.

WTNH reports the district decided to start the school day earlier due to a shortage of bus drivers and rising costs. Officials said the earlier start time will make bus schedules more efficient after students were left waiting at bus stops in years past, according to WTNH.

The new start times will be 7:20 a.m. for Hamden High School, 8 a.m. for Hamden Middle School and 8:35 a.m. for the elementary schools, according to WTNH.
