East Haven BOE Chooses Hamden Firm for Study on Proposed Redistricting

The board voted unanimously on the firm out of the three firms that submitted requests.

The feasibility study is expected to cost the town $35,000.

According to the Register, the architectural design firm will assess the proposed project’s actual cost, the best use for the schools and make recommendations for changes to the plan. Currently, officials estimate that the project could end up costing the town between $50 million to $60 million.

The consolidation is part of the district’s strategic plan that includes closing two elementary schools while keeping three elementary schools, a middle school attached with another school and a high school.

The town will budget the cost of the study and any additional costs will be paid for by the Board of Education, the paper reports.
