LIVE JAZZ featuring BASSOLOGY at Park Central Tavern!

BASSOLOGY- featuring David Chevan, Ron Braggs, Will Bartlett, and Joe McWilliams!

Appearing Saturday, Jan. 21 in the jazz room at the Park Central Tavern, 1640 Whitney Avenue, Hamden. Two sets 9:00 p.m. and 10:45 p.m.

BASSOLOGY is a blues-drenched swinging jazz group led by New Haven area bassist, David Chevan. Chevan is the co-founder of The Afro-Semitic Experience. “Bassology is what I like to call my rent party band,” explains Chevan. “Y’know, jazz you can dance to. This group allows me to explore music that grooves hard—we’re playing tunes from straight-ahead swinging jazz to the funky grooves of New Orleans, to pretty much any beat that makes me smile—and I’m with a really great group of players.”

The bands repertoire mixes tunes by such artists as The Meters, Mongo Santamaria, and George Harrison in with Ron Bragg’s smoky readings of classic jazz standards. The group features the soulful singing of drummer Ron Braggs along with Will Bartlett on sax and Joe McWilliams on keyboards.  The band will be playing music from their two CDs along with choice jazz classics featuring the smoky voice of Mr. Ron Braggs.
