Extremely Malnourished Bulldog Makes Recovery, Ready for Adoption: Hamden Animal Control

The dog, nicknamed the "comeback kid," received months of medical treatment and is ready to find a new home.

HAMDEN, CT — A stray “Bulldog mix,” who was extremely malnourished and dehydrated when impounded over the summer, has made substantial improvements and is ready to be adopted, according to animal control officials.

The Hamden Animal Control was contacted on Aug. 11 regarding the dog, who was found roaming in the area of Whitney Avenue and Armory Street.

Animal Control Officer Chris Smith responded and immediately transported the canine to the VCA Cheshire Animal Hospital. The canine was diagnosed with significant skin disorder and was extremely malnourished and dehydrated.

After months of medical treatment, the canine has made substantial improvements, Hamden Police posted on Facebook. Going forward, the canine will need daily treatment for his eyes.

“ACO Smith describes the canine as ‘extremely friendly’ who will make a good companion,” police said in the post. “If anyone is interested in adopting the ‘comeback kid’ please contact Hamden Animal Control at (203) 230-4080. Reference Impound number 18.”
