Father Accused of Assaulting Child’s Family in Home Invasion: Hamden Police
Police say the man forcibly entered the home and attempted to attack the mother of his child and assaulted two others: BREAKING

HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man faces home invasion and assault charges after Hamden Police say he forcibly enter the home where his child lives and assaulted two people.
Hamden Police responded to a Carleton Street residence at about 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5 on the report of a dispute, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that Reggie Ulmer, who is the father of the resident’s child, forcibly entered the home and attempted to attack the mother of his child, at which time her 50-year-old stepfather intervened.

Ulmer is accused of striking him several times and then allegedly attempted to stab him with a knife, according to Smith.
Ulmer then punched the stepfather’s wife in the face before leaving, Smith said.

Shortly thereafter, Sergeant Michael Doherty arrested Ulmer on Barraclough Avenue and he was transported to police headquarters.
Ulmer, 26, of West Read Street in New Haven, was arrested on charges of home Invasion, second-degree criminal attempt to commit assault, two counts of third-degree assault, second-degree threatening, disorderly conduct and first-degree criminal trespass.
Officer Devin Eaton conducted the investigation.
