Food Market Burglarized In Hamden: Police

Police say the suspects used a hammer to break into the store.

HAMDEN, CT — Police are asking for the public’s assistance with identifying two suspects in connection to the burglary of the Country Food Market on State Street in Hamden early Saturday morning. Police responded to the market at about 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 3 on the report of a burglary-in-progress, according to Capt. Ronald Smith. Responding officers were advised that two men were seen leaving the store and entering a “large, white pickup truck,” according to Smith.

Smith said the two men used a hammer to break the front glass door and enter the store. Once inside, they stole an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register. They then entered a vehicle, possibly a white Dodge Ram, which was parked in the front of the store, according to Smith.

The vehicle was last seen traveling at a high rate of speed, southbound on State Street.
