Former Quinnipiac Student Sentenced for Fake Commencement Bomb Scare

Danielle Shea was sentenced after a bomb scare nearly derailed commencement at the school last year.

Former Quinnipiac University student Danielle Shea was sentenced to three years probation for causing a bomb scare on graduation day that turned out to be a hoax.

Shea, of Quincy, Mass. made threats before the ceremony because she was embarrassed about not graduating, according to NBC Connecticut. She didn’t want her parents to know that she wouldn’t be getting her diploma.

She pleaded guilty to second-degree reporting a false incident and two counts of second-degree threatening, according to the Record Journal.

Shea was also ordered to pay $22,100 restitution to the university. Of that the university has so far received $15,000.

Her family believed she was enrolling in classes with the money they sent her, but that wasn’t the case.
