HAMDEN, CT — (From Hamden Public Schools): Free Summer Meals are coming soon to Hamden.

All children and teens, 18 years old and younger, are welcome at the summer meals sites listed below for breakfast and lunch. There is absolutely no cost to the child or family for the meals, and there is no ID, paperwork, or registration required. However, all food must be eaten at the site. One meal is allowed per child during each meal service.

The summer meals program helps ensure that all children can eat healthy food during the summer months while school is out. Summer meals meet federal nutrition guidelines and are comprised of fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, and milk.

Free, nutritious, meals will be provided to kids and teens, 18 years of age and younger, at the following locations:

Church Street School

Breakfast: 8 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

Lunch: 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Helen Street School

Breakfast: 8: a.m. - 9:30 a.m.

Rochford Field

Breakfast: 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Lunch: 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.

Shepherd Glen School

Wintergreen School

All summer meals sites operate Monday through Friday, but are closed on Monday, July 4.

The summer meals program is funded through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE). Locally, summer meals are organized by Hamden Public Schools and Whitsons School Nutrition.
