Frost Advisory in Effect for Hamden

Apparently, we are going to change seasons after all as the state woke up to a very chilly Columbus Day and frost advisories are in effect for most of Connecticut in the overnight hours running into mid-Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The “Frost Advisory” is in effect for all areas of the state except for communities on the immediate Connecticut coast from Greenwich to New London.

But once you move a bit inland the “Frost Advisory” is in effect beginning around 2 a.m. Tuesday and continuing until 9 a.m. Tuesday.

What this means is it will be the coldest temps of the season thus far with temps falling into the low to mid 30s in inland Connecticut. Areas along the shoreline will be chilly but not as cold with temps near 40 degrees.

The weather service says sensitive outdoor plants that are not protected or brought indoors could be damaged by frost.

It’s also good news that we received a surprising amount of rain this past weekend because once again no rain is expected over the next seven days. Temps will also rebound a bit as the week progresses.

Here’s a look at what to expect over the next 7-days via the National Weather Service:

• Monday: Sunshine, temps near 60. It’s going to be windy with gusts approaching 25 mph at times.
• Monday night: Temps near 40 on the shore and lower 30s inland.
• Tuesday: Sunshine, a bit warmer with highs in the mid 60s.
• Wednesday: Mostly sunny and temps in the upper 60s.
• Thursday: Perfect, sunshine and temps around 70.
• Friday: Sunshine with temps in the mid 60s.

The weekend:

Sunshine on Saturday and Sunday with temps in the low 60s.
