HAMDEN, CT — Crews extinguished a garage fire on Evergreen Avenue in Hamden on Thursday afternoon. The fire was reported in an attached garage just before 2 p.m. at 385 Evergreen Ave., according to fire officials.

Crews arrived at the scene within two minutes. The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes under the direction of Battalion Chief Couture and the fire marshal is investigating the cause, according to Assistant Fire Chief Charles Lubowicki. No injuries were reported.

“As some of us are in the spring cleaning mode and this is was a garage fire, we remind everyone of the importance of reducing clutter whenever possible, keeping exits clear, and flammables away from heat sources,” Lubowicki wrote in a news release. “We also recommend the storing of chemicals in approved containers and cabinets that are away from the reach of small children. Visit www.USFA.gov for more safety tips as fire is everyone’s fight.”
