Hamden 2018 Free Summer Concert Series: Complete Lineup

The Hamden Arts Commission presents its lineup for opening acts and headliners to this summer's free concert series at Town Center Park.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Arts Commission announces the lineup for its 2018 Free Summer Concert Series. All shows take place at Hamden Town Center Park, 2761 Dixwell Avenue. Opening acts start at 7:30 p.m. with headliners performing at 8:15 p.m.

The season begins with the annual Volunteer Firefighter’s Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks Display on Friday, June 29 at 6 p.m. (the rain date is June 30). D.J. Bry will entertain before the Hamden Symphony Orchestra takes the stage at 7:15 p.m. Fireworks are scheduled to go off around 9:20 p.m. Food will be available on site with ample free parking. On July 6, Disco and R&B legend, Gloria Gaynor, will be here to get us moving and grooving to some of her most popular hits like, “I Will Survive”, “I Am What I Am” and “Never Can Say Goodbye.” Opening for Gloria will be D.J. Rachel with “D.J. Rachel’s Diva Dance Party”- the perfect way to prepare for an evening of dancing to some classic Disco tunes.

On July 13, local Jazz celebrities Myke Ross & Tym N’ Motion will here to bring the energy. Comprised of members from the tri-state area, this band is renowned for their superb arrangements of crowd favorites from BB King, Bob Marley, and Earth, Wind, and Fire to George Benson, Michael Jackson, and Prince. Opening for this band will be the Mike DiMaria Quintet through special collaboration with Blue Plate Radio Productions.

On July 20, one of the longest-lived Reggae bands, Third World, will be here mixing all the elements of R&B, funk, pop, rock, dancehall, and rap for an exciting evening sure to get you up and dancing on the lawn. Known as the “Reggae Ambassadors”, Third World touts 10 Grammy nominations and multiple smash hits like “Now That We Found Love”, ”96 Degrees in the Shade” and “Try Jah Love”. Opening this evening will be New Haven band, Professor B and the Army of Love.

The last concert on July 27 will feature pop-rock sensation, Little River Band. Known for their hits “Reminiscing”, “Cool Change” and “Help is On It’s Way”, this show is sure to make you feel…reminiscent… of more nostalgic times. Opening the evening will be CT based blues jam band, Cobalt Rhythm Kings.
