Hamden Advances To SCC Boys’ Basketball Championship
The Green Dragons held on to beat Guilford in a thrilling SCC semifinal on Monday.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden boys’ basketball team will be playing for its first Southern Connecticut Conference title Wednesday night after holding on to beat No. 2 Guilford, 71-69, in the SCC tournament semifinals Monday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
The third-seeded Green Dragons (20-3) will face No. 4 Hillhouse in the championship game at 7 p.m. at the Floyd Little Athletic Center. Hillhouse (17-6) defeated No. 8 Notre Dame-West Haven 55-50 in the other semifinal. Hillhouse beat Hamden twice during the regular season — 59-56 on Jan. 19 and 72-61 on Feb. 9.
Doug Daniels led Hamden with 23 points in the win over Guilford (20-2), while Jaylen Ricks and Victor Rosario scored 20 points apiece, according to GameTimeCT.com.
