Hamden Awarded Justice Assistance Grant

Funds received will be utilized for the purchase of traffic and police safety supplies and equipment.

Mayor Leng and Acting Police Chief Sullivan are pleased to announce that the Town of Hamden has been awarded $24,474 from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) from the U.S. Department of Justice. The grant award and acceptance was approved at the October 5th meeting of the Hamden Legislative Council.

Funds received will be utilized for the purchase of traffic and police safety supplies and equipment, including safety cones, portable stop signs, and new 7CQ taser units for use by certified and trained HPD members.

Mayor Leng commented, “I’d like to extend my thanks to Chief Sullivan and his Department for consistently working to identify alternative funding opportunities that improve our operations. Nearly $25,000 will go a long way towards updating our equipment and keeping our folks safe in Hamden.”
