Hamden to Become New Home of Albertus Magnus Baseball, Softball

Hamden’s Rochford Field will serve as the new home field for the Albertus Magnus baseball and softball teams.

The Falcons previously played their games at Quigley Stadium in West Haven and will be moving to Hamden for the upcoming spring season.

The baseball team will play its home games at Rochford Field and the softball team will also have select games there.

“I, along with the entire Albertus Magnus College community, am delighted to have the newly constructed Rochford Field as the home for the Falcon baseball and softball teams,” Albertus Magnus College President Dr. Julia M McNamara said in a statement. “The college is excited about the continued growth and development of the facilities available to our student-athletes and we are looking forward to continuing to build on this partnership with the town of Hamden.”

The newly renovated field features state-of-the-art lights, a covered grand stand for fans behind home plate, newly sodded and irrigated grass field surface that will play host to only baseball and softball games and a new electronic scoreboard in left center field. The Albertus Magnus athletic department contributed the scoreboard.

Rochford Field, which is just three blocks from the Albertus Magnus campus, will host eight home dates for baseball, single games and doubleheaders (not counting two makeup dates), and two dates for softball home games not scheduled for on-campus play this upcoming spring.

As part of the agreement with the town of Hamden, Albertus Magnus coaches and student-athletes will be extending the reach of their community service to encompass working with youth sports programs in the town.

The Albertus Magnus athletic department has pledged to initiate and staff both youth sports clinics and coaching clinics for Hamden’s existing sports programs utilizing Rochford Field, our campus or at any other sites in the town of Hamden.

The Albertus Magnus College athletic department welcomes all Hamden residents to its home contests. The game schedules will be provided to the town and admission to all of home athletic events is free.
