Hamden Businesses Caught Selling Alcohol To Minors: Police

Authorities conducted a compliance check at several businesses on Thursday.

HAMDEN, CT — Several Hamden businesses were caught selling alcohol to minors during a recent compliance check, according to police. On June 13, the Hamden Police Department Street Interdiction Team assisted the State of Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Liquor Control Division with “liquor sale compliance checks,” according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said the “purpose of this endeavor was to determine if local businesses are in compliance with state laws concerning the sale of alcoholic beverages, as it relates to minors.”

Officers conducted compliance checks at seven businesses. Four establishments sold alcoholic beverages to a person under 21 years of age. They are:

The Liquor Mart – 3837 Whitney Avenue

The businesses that were in violation of state law were referred to the Liquor Control Division, according to Smith.
