Hamden to Construct Helen Street School ‘Bus Drop-Off Area’
The Legislative Council recently approved a recommendation for the construction of a "bus drop-off area" at Helen Street Elementary School.

HAMDEN, CT – Hamden will construct a “bus drop-off area” at Helen Street School after recently gaining the approval of the Legislative Council. This new area will be constructed with the goals of enhancing school drop-off and pick-up, calming local traffic, and improving safety, according to officials.
The Hamden Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed applications for this project, and returned a favorable review, officials said. (To sign up for Hamden breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
“Enhancing the safety of our school children will always be central to the Town and Board of Education’s goals,” Mayor Curt Balzano Leng said in a press release. “The construction of this bus drop-off area will allow parents and students greater flexibility and peace of mind when picking up and dropping off students, similar to improvements constructed at Shepherd Glen Elementary last year.
