Hamden Coronavirus Update: More Than 300 Confirmed Cases, 5 Dead
As state health officials see a surge in the number of confirmed deaths, Hamden's mayor urges locals to follow safety guidelines together.
HAMDEN, CT — Hamden Mayor Curt Balzano Leng announced Tuesday that the town has now surpassed 300 positive cases of the new coronavirus after 18 more local residents were among those who were added to the growing list by local and state health officials. According to Leng, 316 town residents have tested positive while five deaths have been confirmed in the community, Leng wrote in a social media post.
“We must do everything in our power to follow the Center for Disease Control recommendations for reducing exposure and slow the spread,” Leng wrote in a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday. “We are in the community expansion/surge period right now. Everything we do, each day we stay home, every time we wear our facial coverings, every time we are sure to limit our trips to the store, wash our hands and avoid touching our faces will mean less people get sick and less people will lose their life.”
He added: “We have to do this together. We can do it, as a community, I know we can, but we all have to have skin in the game and do our part.”
