Hamden Doctor Fined For Operating On Wrong Finger: Report
Two Hamden doctors were disciplined by the state Medical Examining Board this week.

HAMDEN, CT — Two Hamden doctors were fined by the state Medical Examining Board this week, including an orthopedic surgeon who made an incision on the patient’s wrong finger, according to the Connecticut Health I-Team.
Kate Farrish of the Connecticut Health I-Team reports Dr. Mark Scanlan was fined $5,000 for making an incision on the patient’s left thumb when he was supposed to be operating on the patient’s left ring finger during surgery in 2017.
The board also fined Dr. Andrew Swan, a Hamden ophthalmologist, $7,500 and reprimanded his license for violating “ethical boundaries” by having a consensual relationship with an adult patient, according to Farrish.
