Hamden Election 2021: Reuel Parks Running For Board Of Education

HAMDEN, CT — The 2021 municipal election is heating up in Hamden with plenty of races on the ballot.

Voters will head to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 2 and cast their ballots for mayor, town clerk and seats on the legislative council and board of education.

Hamden Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Reuel Parks, 45, is running for election to the Hamden Board of Education as a Democrat.

The single biggest issue in town is ______, and I plan to do this about it:

Diversity within the school system. I plan to engage the board of ed members to discover how can we recruit black and brown teachers to the great town.

Critical differences between me and my opponents:

I would not say that there are critical difference due to my ability to work with anyone.

Accomplishments:

As a retired officer of 23yr, working with youth and adults, owner of a nonprofit geared towards working with at-risk youth, and 14 years of clinical background experiences has provided me with the experiences relative to working as a Board member.

Other issues:

Mental health amongst the student population and how the school identifies such issues and resources allocated with address said issues.

What else would you like voters to know about you?

The town of Hamden is a great town and the town wins when all students' needs are met and helping them to become productive young healthy adults.
