Hamden Elementary Schools Ranked Among the County's Best
Niche.com ranked the top 100 elementary schools in Connecticut and the top 88 elementary schools in New Haven County.

While none of Hamden’s elementary schools ranked among the top 100 public elementary schools in Connecticut, based on Niche.com’s rankings, the district did fare well in the separate rankings for New Haven County.
New Haven County had eight schools ranked in the Top 100 — three each from Madison and Cheshire and two from Guilford. The full Connecticut list can be found here: “Best Public Elementary Schools in Connecticut.”
All eight of Hamden’s elementary schools were ranked in Niche.com’s Top 88 for New Haven County.

Here’s how they placed:
- Bear Path School — No. 23
- West Woods School — No. 31
- Spring Glen School — No. 32
- Helen Street School — No. 35
- Shepherd Glen School — No. 38
- Ridge Hill School — No. 39
- Dunbar Hill School — No. 40
- Church Street School — No. 41
According to Niche, a high ranking indicates that “students are happy with their experiences in all aspects, especially academics, teachers, and diversity,” “the school is an exceptional academic institution in terms of teachers, students, resources for learning, and student outcomes,” and “the school is made up of a diverse population and fosters an accepting, positive school culture.”
