Hamden Firefighters Donate School Supplies to Children in Need

Hamden firefighters raised more than $700 for school supplies for 23 children at the Keefe Community Center and Helen Street School.

The Keefe Community Center gives out school supplies to families from Hamden that cannot afford to buy their own. These supplies are particularly helpful to the little minds of Hamden who are trying to learn in sometimes very difficult situations.

The Helen St. School identified a group of children that could really benefit from school donations, and Local 2687 was given a list of supplies that would be extremely helpful to this group.

We are pleased to announce that through the generous donations of our membership, we were able to raise over $700 for school supplies, allowing us to purchase school supplies for 23 children. Our original goal was to provide 16 children with necessary supplies but thanks to our membership donations and discounts offered by Staples, we exceeded our goal! Every dollar that was raised was spent on supplies for children at the Keefe Center and the Helen Street School. The staff at both of these facilities was extremely grateful and we are happy to have provided assistance to our community members in need.

Special thanks goes out to Capt. O’Callaghan for spearheading this initiative and to those members who assisted with the shopping.
