Hamden High School Dismissed Early Due to Bomb Threat

A threat was made to Hamden High School on Monday morning and police are investigating: BREAKING

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden High School is being dismissed at 12 noon as police investigate a threat that was made to the school earlier on Monday morning.

A call came into the Hamden Police Department at about 10:20 a.m. concerning a threat to Hamden High School, according to the superintendent’s office. Police responded immediately to the school.

“The Hamden Police Department is unable at this time to determine the level of threat and will need the remainder of the afternoon to completely search the building and grounds,” according to the message from the superintendent’s office. “Students are currently being evacuated to the field according to protocol and will be dismissed from the stadium at noon.

“As always, the safety or our students and staff is our number one priority.”

Capt. Ronald Smith confirmed that the police department received a bomb threat regarding the school.

Two bomb-sniffing K-9s from the New Haven Police Department are assisting in the investigation, according to Smith.
