Hamden High School Looking for New Principal
Gary Highsmith recently began his new job with the district's Central Office.

Hamden High School is looking for a new principal after Gary Highsmith accepted a new position in the district’s Central Office as its director of human resources.
The New Haven Register reports Highsmith began his new job on July 1 and the district hopes to have a new principal in place when the school year starts but Assistant Principal Clydette Messiah will serve as interim principal.
Highsmith told Kate Ramunni of the New Haven Register that it was a hard decision to leave Hamden High and the biggest adjustment for him is “going to be missing the kids and the interactions I had with them. I’ve seen thousands of kids graduate and I have formed relationships with them that will last a lifetime. I hope it has helped them as I’ve been helped.”
