Hamden High School Students Rally Around Teacher
The students have launched an online campaign to raise funds for their teacher whose husband is battling cancer.

Hamden High School students are rallying around their teacher whose husband is battling cancer and have launched a GoFundMe page.
The junior and senior high school math class started the page on Jan. 29 and more than $27,000 had been raised by 270 people as of Tuesday morning. (UPDATE: more than $38,000 had been raised as of Saturday morning.)
According to the post, their teacher, Kathryn Caliendo’s husband is battling stage four stomach cancer.
The students wrote:
“Mrs. Caliendo balances being a full time teacher and taking care of her husband and kids. She is constantly battling the struggle of balancing the needs of her students that she is responsible for and her sick husband. She is an amazing teacher that never gets a break and we as a class want to be able to give her one. Any donation will be appreciated and thank you for your contributions.”
