Hamden Hires Deputy Finance Director

Officials announce the recent hiring of a new deputy finance director in town.

HAMDEN, CT — Rick Galarza was recently hired as Deputy Finance Director in Hamden, town officials announced. Galarza will assist with the direction of all of the town’s financial operations, alongside Mayor Curt Balzano Leng and current Finance Director Salvatore DeCola.

“I am very pleased to announce that Hamden’s Finance Department has welcomed another member to its team,” Leng said in a press release. “Mr. Garlarza’s experience is a welcome addition to our operations, and I look forward to the many contributions I am sure he will offer to our town. I look forward to working with him and Director DeCola as we continue to maintain careful stewardship of Hamden’s finances.”

Galarza has more than 20 years of professional work experience in the fields of finance, budget development, strategic planning, grants management and operations management. Galarza previously served as the Finance Director for the Hispanic Health Council from 2011 through 2017, and was the Director of Management and Budget for the City of Hartford from 1992-2010. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Harford, and a Bachelor of Arts from Central Connecticut State University. He is a member of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities, Capitol Region Council of Government, International City / Country Management Association, and is a “Budget Reviewer” for the Government Finance Officers Association.
