Hamden Man, 51, Dies in Crash
The one-car accident occurred on Shepard Avenue around 12:30 a.m. on Friday.
A Hamden man died early Friday morning from injuries sustained in a one-car crash on Shepard Avenue near Sanford Street.
Lawrence Gensicki, 51, was pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital shortly after being transported there via ambulance, Sgt. Anthony Diaz said in a press release.
Police responded to the scene of the crash at about 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 4.

Diaz said a 2012 Volkswagen Passat was traveling southbound on Sheppard Avenue when it left the roadway and struck a utility pole.
The operator, Gensicki, was found unresponsive inside the vehicle, according to Diaz. He sustained head and chest injuries and was transported via ambulance to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Shortly thereafter, Gensicki was pronounced dead at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
