Hamden Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting a Child

Hector Alvarado, 58, turns himself into police in connection with May case.

Hamden police have arrested a town man for allegedly sexually assaulting a child in May.

Hector Alvarado, 58, of 83 Concord Street, turned himself into police on Aug. 28 after police secured a warrant for his arrest, according to a police press release.

The arrest stems from an incident in May when police were summoned to the area of Church Street on a report of risk of injury to a minor.

The Hamden Police Department Special Victims Unit conducted an extensive investigation and determined that Alvarado had sexually assaulted a child under the age of 12 years old, according to the press release.

Alvarado was arrested on charges of fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor. He was held in lieu of a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 10.
