Hamden Man Crashes Car In River, Arrested: Trumbull PD

He tried to deny being in the vehicle, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — A Hamden man was arrested after he crashed his car in the Pequonnock River while intoxicated Sept. 30, according to police.

The crash occurred near White Plains Road and Route 25. A vehicle ran a red light, crossed four lanes of traffic and landed in the small river, police said.

The operator got out of the car, smoked a cigarette and then tried to walk away from the scene, police said. He later denied being in the car despite his license being found in the vehicle and the keys on his person.

Ryan Tomasko, 32, failed field sobriety tests and his BAC results were .228 and .215, police said.
